Table of Contents >> How to Rip DVD to a Video File (DivX, XviD, AVI, MPEG, MP4, WMV, MOV, RM)?

Using AVS Video Converter it is quite easy to convert your DVD to almost all video formats used nowadays. You can rip your DVD into DivX, XviD, AVI, MPEG, MP4, WMV, MOV, RM video formats and watch them later using the devices that support the resulting video format. AVS Video Converter can also upload your video onto a mobile device - GSM/CDMA phone or a portable player - using the AVS Mobile Uploader application that will be launched automatically upon the conversion end.

Let's suppose you have a DVD that you want to save into one of the supported formats. Follow the steps below to do that:

Note!Note: when your input is a DVD Disc, you will need to select the path to your source file: X://Video_TS/Video_TS.IFO. "X" stands for your DVD-ROM or the hard disk drive folder where your DVD is stored:

It is important to select the IFO file, rather than VOB file, because the IFO file contains the information about the entire DVD structure and this way you will avoid audio and video de-synch problems when converting.
Also, most DVDs have several VOB files (files with actual video)and if you convert VOBs instead of IFO, you will have to merge them afterwards, which is not the case with the IFO files.

Step 3 :

Set up the conversion parameters.

After you have selected the video input file, press one of the buttons on the main panel to select the necessary format to convert your video file into. In the list of Profiles select one of the offered profiles. You can also edit the selected profile using the Edit Profile... button:

Set up a proper path for your output video file.

Click the Browse... button next to Output File Name field and select a location on your HDD for the output video file:
